You are invited to read the following 6 sections and then decide in which way you might be able to join this ongoing revolution for a better medicine. 1. The availability of vitamins and supplements is seriously endangered by national and international efforts being made by the big pharmaceutical companies. Read the material under CODEX 2005 (by Helke Ferrie published Feburary 2005 in Vitality Magazine) or CODEX (federal MP Dr. James Lunney’s article from Vitality Magazine Sept. 2003), and join the effort to stop this attempt to limit our freedom to chose how we want to prevent illness.
   
   
2. In ONTARIO the Regulated Health Professions Act needs amending, as outlined at the end of the Glasnost Report 2001 in order to free doctors to use new and effective therapies without fear of reprisal from the regulatory bodies, such as the CPSO (College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario).
   
   
3. Friends of Freedom is an international health activism organization whose headquarters are in Canada. They coordinate legal action on behalf of the health food and food supplement industry and lobby the federal government of Canada on behalf of Canadians to retain the freedom of choice in health care.

4. One of the great social injustices Canadians are enduring is the federal government’s lack of recognition of MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity). Thousands of Canadians have been totally or partially disabled by exposure to environmental toxins, and even though the law governing disability pensions clearly states that official diagnoses do not determine a person’s need for disability support, anybody with MCS is discriminated against almost routinely. This report by Helke Ferrie for the federal government will show you what is happening and you can support this national effort by writing to your MP and the Minister of Human Resources demanding that this discrimination is stopped.
   
   
5. Health Canada is selling out to the drug companies and drug safety is in danger of becoming an oxymoron. There will be nobody at all to determine drug safety if we don’t all do something about it. Read the article by Helke Ferrie, published April 2004 in Vitality Magazine and the “Open Letter to the Prime Minister” by the Canadian Health Coalition (www.medicare.ca ). This letter has already been signed by thousands of Canadians and endorsed by 26 countries, but we need as much help as possible from many more people to send a clear message to the Canadian Government that such a total abdication of responsibility for drugs is unacceptable.

The CBC now has finally been able to get the data base on drug safety from Health Canada (The Star, February 20, 2004). It covers 1965 through Sept. 30, 2003. Go to www.cbc.ca/news and follow the links to find out what Health Canada knew about the risks in the drugs you may be taking and often never divulged to anybody, not even the medical scientists researching them for Health Canada. 6. The National Film Board and the organization WHEN are in the process of making a film for international distribution. It shows how pesticides affect children and their development and what can be done to change this unfolding tragedy. WHEN produced the internationally acclaimed award-winning documentary Exposure which dealt with the issue of environmental toxins and breast cancer. 7. Learn about the extraordinary efforts being made by medical researchers world-wide to free medical science from the corrupting influence of business interests.
